We were really overdue for a trip to visit Jeff and Amie. We planned a quick trip to visit them over the holiday weekend, leaving Thursday afternoon, driving all night and arriving Friday morning. It's such a long drive! Every time we go, I remind myself why we only do it once every year and a half or so.. it's exhausting. But the friendly faces waiting for us are worth it!
Friday evening we drove to the cool town of Flagstaff. It's a really pretty, foresty, earthy, college town. Full of gourmet restaurants and neat boutiques. We spent the evening eating Thai food, watching a movie in the park and shopping. Oh and in the photo, I am not drinking a beer. There was this neat old vintage shop with really old flavors of soda. I had a Sasparilla. YUM! And also, yes, that IS my daughters crack hanging out. LOL!
Saturday was a long day of kicking back. Jeff and Maddy made us donuts for breakfast. Then, the boys went out to the reservation to go shooting. While us girls vegged and watched chick flicks. We ended the evening with a little barbecue and enjoyed sitting outside by the patio fire, just catching up with eachother. Their backyard was full of those cute twinkly lights. It was so pretty and relaxing!
We enjoyed the meeting together on Sunday. Madison got to see her friend Ava. They're the same age and always love to see eachother! Later in the day, we had a big dinner and games with some of our friends from the congregation.
The summer evenings in Arizona are so nice. It's slightly warm, not too hot, and the sunsets are always sooo beautiful! It was a nice way to end our little vacation.
Then came Monday morning! :( It's always so sad to leave my brother and sissy-in-law. We all love eachother so much. It's always a waterworks show when we have to say good-bye! Here's a little snapshot of the drive home of Kody and Maddy. We are so lucky to have a mellow pup and child. It sure makes long drives like this so much easier! 13 hours later we were home and all had to go to work early the next day.. we were pooped! But it was all worth it!
